Domestic abuse
Women from all backgrounds can be affected by domestic abuse. At Women’s Pioneer Housing, we are committed to doing all we can to help residents experiencing such abuse.
Domestic abuse includes when a partner or other family member:
- threatens you
- shoves or pushes you
- makes you fear for your safety
- puts you down or tries to undermine your self-esteem
- controls or isolates you, for example by stopping you seeing friends or family
- frightens you
- forces you to take out debt in your name.
- is jealous and possessive
- threatens to share intimate pictures of you.
What can you do?
If you are experiencing any form of domestic abuse, or are concerned a neighbour might be, please speak to your Housing Officer.
We offer sensitive, non-judgemental and confidential guidance on personal safety, legal advice, rehousing options and liaison with specialist agencies and the police.
We were one of the first housing associations to be accredited by the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance, in recognition of our work to tackle such issues.
