What is STAIRs and What Does It Mean For You?
Under the Government’s new Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs), we are committed to being open, accountable, and clear about how we manage your homes and services.
Designed to give social housing residents rights similar to Freedom of Information rules, STAIRs make it easier for our residents to see how decisions are made, how funds are spent, and how services are delivered.
STAIRs will be rolled out in two key phases:
Phase 1 (October 2026): We will launch a new Online Publication Scheme. This central hub on our website will give you easy access to key information, including housing management policies, performance stats, building safety updates, and financial spending details.
Phase 2 (April 2027): You will have the formal right to submit written information requests regarding housing management operations, with a response from us within 30 days.
What does this mean for residents?
STAIRs is focused strictly on general housing management, policies, and service performance. It does not cover your private tenancy files or personal information.
If you want to exercise your right to your personal records, this will still be done under a Subject Access Request (SAR) under data protection legislation.
We welcome this change as a step towards stronger relationships and total transparency across our community. You can access our website for a further introduction to STAIRs, and this October our publication scheme will go live.
